Dolph's Letter #85

Dear Sweetheart-

Had to abruptly stop the letter I was writing this morning for I was interrupted to ship to my unit.

So here I am about 10 miles for north of Garmisch-Partenkirchen - (scene of the 1936 Olympics) 30 miles from Innsbruck + about the same distance from Munich.

I just don't know how to begin though. I have just received my first letters from you. I am so overwhelmed. Cause the mail clerk shipped all my mail about 10 days ago to the hospital! Said he couldn't carry it all around with him. But at least I have 12 letters 2 anniversary cards + 21 V-mail letters from you. They are a few with my Salt water address - Mar 16+17 + the balance from the 1st of May thru the 16th (tho not each day).

Oh Sweetheart it is so marvelous to read your letters.

So you had a toothache! A little operation, that's all! Gee dear you must have had a lot of pain. I'm sorry. That though its all over sure dear, + you are all right. But you shall have to send me a picture or 2 or 3 or 4 more to prove you are all right. I'm glad Mother is with you - do you both good. I hope she is better now. Was she operated upon?

I see you have been doing some cooking. Fine. And are you still with Mrs. McCrea's? Would Dorothea I write to her address? What is the address?

Oh Hel! I don't know how I'll write this letter - I am billeted with headquarters company - the old man is putting me in as Liaison Officer - for a few days + then I'll be assigned — + we are living in a German general's house - beautiful (more about this house + the trip tomorrow) — A Captain is playing the piano + singing. Having a coffee German brand in here in an hour.

I love you! Love you!

I enjoyed "Cinema in the Window" too.

You seem to have made several good friends. Knew you wouldn't have any difficulty.

That was a cute cartoon. I see you have new roommates. How they are congenial. (Not so loud Captain!)

I don't know what you are doing at the Office Island in the Kaiser General Hospital but will learn aabout the infantry! Well. Look honey I wouldn't want to hurt you, grieve you a- in any way cause an anxiety, especially if its unwarranted. Now no matter what you hear about the infantry I'll tell you, when I come home what I have been through + tell then remember each out of has a different mission + all the various conditions under which you operate change. Sometimes its good sometimes not so good, but at no time can you accurately forecast what will be so the more you learn the more your imagination will run riot. Don't dear. At worst help. Rather know - I love you completely + shall forever have heart just for you.

Sat. 26 May 45
a different village not near Mittenwald.

Our 14th Anniversary - Correct? Relations sweet, + many happy returns.

They didn't waste any time for today I was assigned to B.Q. + have a platoon now. Which also means I moved from the Feldmarshall's - not a General - (Showras or something like that is his name - Person called up on to defend Berlin) house, but my new billet is in a hotel + is as way it is better than that other billet. More about that to-morrow

Besides you - letters.

Shall stop this letter - getting to heavy + shall immediately write another.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph.

Dolph's Letter #86

Dear Sweetheart -

Above is the name of that little town I am in which is near Mittenwald.

For joy in your 2nd May letter that you hope you can do things for me so that you can feel as though you are still sharing my life.

Honey, just being you - that sweet adorable, loveable, beautiful you - means that you are sharing me + my life so much more than the ordinary person can comprehend. I cease to exist if I do not know that you are you. Everything I do, think of, wish is because of + for you. That is what keeps me going + as you see dear you are making the biggest contribution - you are keeping me alive. I love you - "You entirely possess me!"

About having a baby if I can get a leave - I like the idea very much - but we shall talk about it when I get home. I love you so much + do want a child - our child.

That was very sweet of you dear to say a special prayer for me. I know God has been watching over me because of His great love for you.

Cherie me dear when this is all over we shall keep house together + no one shall be around, for any other reason, I wish I make love to you all the time + it just wouldn't do to have any other persons around.

It must be hard to just exist in the States, but your sacrifice of food, tires etc. because you are my wife shall never be regretted. Never my love is so all encompassing + I shall display it at every opportunity.

Boy how I look forward to your cuddling up to me. It can't happen too soon. I don't think I'll wear out soon either.

That is a nifty haircut, + it will look just right when I come home.

Honey, if I forgot to mention our last anniversary April - I'm sorry. No excuse Sir - but extenuating circumstances. Ready to take my punishment.

That wearing of my uniform was very touchship. So you filled it out in other places. I can well imagine. By the way, when you keep up my home, did you notice a little tear on the left hand side below the bottom pocket? Could you have it mended? But under no condition spend the two dollars or something ridiculous like that which are those incredible numbers (have you read they be invisible + weird? Includes) wanted to elapse. $1.55 + plenty + pit in't invisible, so it can't. I accept, might say, have it made into a bottle pocket anyway when I get home.

Because I haven't received so many of your earlier letters I just don't know what or who these people can you talk about in reference to Barney.

Now I want to tell you something about Monty + the Army of Occupation. I haven't received a letter from him saying he was paid to be A of O or no. Honey they well get it + I saw hope so, but remember with this point system you can't tell. It may be because he has so few points, being over here such a short time etc. that he could be transferred or his whole outfit moved out of the 15th + sent to Japan. Who knows, but certainly don't go overboard on the idea that he is in the A of O. Well see, but even if he does go to the Pacific, from what I know he will be in no danger - a desk job which should mean he'll be well behind the lines, thoroughly working hard.

Shall stop now honey, but not before I say that I love you with all my heart + soul always + in all ways.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph
