Dear Sweetheart,
I received beaucoup letters from you today. Seven letters all told, 13, 14, 15, 17 18, & 19th of Jan.
The letter of the 18th was the letter. Receiving a letter from Dad Carton yesterday dated the 22nd of Jan. prepared me for it.
It was very sweet and thoughtful of you dear to withhold the information from me, but that sort of news is always a shock, whenever it comes.
But even more importantly is the adjustment everyone has to make. Apparently Dad is taking it very hard, which is natural. Its so hard to say to anyone that the passing away of a cherished one is just another thing. It isn't, but still everyone must go on, continue not as before, but very much nearly so, and let activity and time heal the ache which arises at every turn when the one who should be there isn't. I hope you, Dad and the girls are kept busy and interested in whatever is going on and am confident that the passage of time will take care of the rest, for you know as well as I, that it does Fan no good just to grieve. She wouldnit have it that way.
Marion and Lois, outside of your telling me that Marion is to graduate on the 2nd of Feb., have been mysteries to me. I don't remember ever hearing from either of them, and so I just don't know how they have matured since last I saw them, or how to write them, except that my thoughts and love are with them, and I hope they too will keep real busy.
Honey, your letters show that you are a real trouper and exhibiting the proper spirit. If only I could take you in my arms dear.
That was very sweet of you dear to have your hair trimmed and set for our phone call. You looked terrific, I could have chewed you up. Boy how I wanted to jump through the wire and take you in my arms and just never let you out again. I was so excited anticipating your voice I walked on clouds, and then when I did talk to you I wanted you to do the talking, not me. You may be sure that I shall phone each month.
Of course we can't plan now as to exactly when you shall come over, presuming this job comes through the way I hope. Dad needs the help of you three girls, as well as the rest of the family. And if every one helps, in a couple or three months or so he will adjust himself. In this matter more depends upon his desire to adjust than anything else. He must get interested and busy with what is going on.
I am very glad you like the pin I sent you honey. I can just picture you wearing it in your hair. Gee I love you so much, and I have so many good things like candy etc. stored up for you that just wants to be given to you.
I hope you are feeling well dear, for your well being is my trust and delight. I love you so very much in all ways always.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
Enclosed are negatives of the pictures I sent you as well as a negative of the casino, proof wasn't given me.
