Dolph's Letter #26

Dear Sweetheart-

Well nothing like moving around + of course the direction is forward.

Now I can tell you that I was at some time back actually quartered down in the Maginot Line. How do you like that?

It was something to see. I assure you that the Line is one of the marvels of the world. Can you imagine being sixty feet under the ground + there is no sweat on the walls?

The French really had a marvelous setup — their equipment + construction was the best there could be.

I went through a section of the Line in which the forts were — astounding. It is no wonder the Germans never broke it.

Wish I could tell you about the details — of the gun emplacements, quarters, engine room, etc. Remind me to tell you when I come home.

Well again I have rather nice quarters. Of course a roof + walls + a floor is more than I can expect when I leave here so you can be sure I'm appreciative. We even have Chinaware — so it's quite a good deal.

Right now I'm sitting in with 3 other Lt's — one Signal Corps, one Field Artillery + one Tank Destroyer — talking, talking. Good to get their views.

That's about all now dear. I love you. Love you so much.

Please take good care of yourself

Your devoted husband,
Dolph
