Dolph's Letter #64

Dear Sweetheart —

At last the sun is out! Feels good.

Well I went to see Hollywood Canteen again last night. Just to see Joan McCracken, Rosario + Antonio + Carmen Cavallero. Still enjoyed it.

These past few days I have been able to finish a biography of Walt Whitman by Henry Seidel Canby. Because I wasn't able to read it straight through + because of the many trivia which arise — like teaching, censoring + poker — I can't really form any opinion of it, but am grateful that it afforded me an opportunity to read several passages of Whitman's.

Nothing much going on here so I really haven't much to write about — do I ever? I hope, though, you are not too irate for I am sure you appreciate that I have been writing ever since I left the States without any mail from you to refer to. I hope you are taking all this in your stride. Bad tidings it is difficult but take today — it is one day nearer the end of the war!

The Frisco Conference opens today. Sure hope some concrete things based upon real democracy is the result —

I pray you are well + know that though apart my heart is your heart.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph

I should have said when I rejoin the outfit
