Dolph's Letter #78

Dear Sweetheart.

Another lazy day honey. Nothing much at all to do.

You know you meet all kinds of men. Yesterday I met an officer who can make cards talk. He told us that he has $25,000 in the bank accumulated in his 7 years in the Army. Admitted quite candidly that he hasn't played crookedly the last 3 years (since he became an officer). I believe him when he says that. He is really an entertaining + interesting chap. Showed us how to deal crookedly etc., + we were all interested. After all we all play cards + it's important to recognize if you are in a crooked game. I am quite sure I have never played in a crooked game - for I only play, when I do, poker for a 5 + 10 cent top. It just isn't worth the while of a real gambler. Amazing thing - you can't imagine just what can be done to a deck of cards. Motto - don't play with anyone you don't know.

Saw a German plane today - first time in a long while - 3 weeks - but this time one of our boys was flying it. Only 300 ft up - I believe it was a JU 52 - 3 motors - am I right about the designation? It startled me at first - gave me a funny feeling.
