Dolph's Letter #90
Dear Sweetheart -
Received your 17 May Letter + see you bought my mother a lovely housecoat. As well as one for yourself. Twins. You are sweet honey.
I imagine it must have been very difficult to shop - not only because of the little time you have, when the shops are open especially, but also because of the shortages.
So you have really become a cook. Versatile.
I love you so much sweet + you know what it drives me to - poetry. And so it's Keats - the volume you gave me + the concluding lines of Lines to Fanny.
"O, let me once more my eyes upon that dazzling breast!
Let once again there aching arms be placed,
the tender gaolers of thy waist!
And let me feel that warm breath here and there
To spread a rapture in my very hair, -
O, the sweetness of the pain!
Give me those lips again!
Enough! Enough! it is enough for me
To dream of thee!"
I love you so much - I want to see you smile again, talk again, whisper little things in my ear, do all those sweet ways things that only you can do. I adore you Jean. So much.
Please take good care of yourself dear.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph.
