Dear Sweetheart -

How are you honey?

You know, the fact that I am awaiting assignment which can send me away from Paris – most likely – has served as an incentive for my running into Paris so frequently these past few weeks – which has cut down my writing. I'm sorry honey.

Today I am exhausted. I bought & sent 2 xmas gifts to our Mothers & Fathers.

I was determined to spend so much upon the men & the women – their gifts always cost more.

I bought our mothers identical gifts – a box of 4 small concentrated perfume – way. Very chic & charming. After the tax was refunded the gifts cost $6 each.

The men – the 2 Charlies will also receive identical gifts – I liked them so much & got the same for myself & shipped it home with the others. Hair Tonic, Eau d'Cologne & After Shave Lotion & also face Powder Houbigant. $6 each after tax refund. Feel pretty pleased about it.

It was hard to find & what a job getting it wrapped & sent at the A.R.C.

Should arrive in the States in about 3 weeks. I spent the whole day on that.

You see – I waited & waited in the hope the franc would be devalued & maybe I could beat the rise in prices. But now, there is no time. I may be shipped tomorrow??

I hope our folks like the gifts.

I received Mother's letter about what your Dad did. It was wonderful of him. I wrote Mom I have to have selfportrait papers to put in for the discharge & she & Chas. & the Representative would have to decide whether it would be based upon "Interest of Intl Health" – my being a Speech correctionist & the children are being neglected because there is a shortage etc. or "Undue Hardship" – say because of my ears I have to make a complete readjustment – which isn't quite true, though my medical record looks bad – I have improved, heartily deed & am no way as bad off as my record shows hearing right ear 7/15 left ear 7/15 – that was in July & I have improved a great deal.

As soon as they can make up their mind which are the representative can serve best & get me the statements I'll write my letter.

The big boys over here are pulling strings to get home, & us "little" ones are holding the bag. Our job is done let's go home.

I'd like to have your opinion about the whole thing dear.

Hope you are well.

Love &
Always in all ways

Your devoted husband
Dolph
