Dear Sweetheart –

Merry Xmas to you honey.

And how do you like my new Fountain Pen? And Pencil? and Zippo Lighter, & Chocolate, & LOVE POEMS & the Snapshots – My but you are good to me. Too naughty sweet of you honey.

I love the poems, & especially our favorite "How Do I Love Thee."

Always wanted a Zippo. Am crazy about peanuts, have tried in vain to get a new pen & pencil set – all these are great honey, but the SNAPSHOTS and the captions – that was a stroke of genius. Thank you so much dear. I just hope my gifts arrived, but no letters have come through from you to let me know.

A letter did come through, tho, which necessitated my cabling you & my uncles – just how seriously ill is my mother – She sent me an affidavit from her doctor & herself & also Rabbi Segal, but even though she explained in her letter that she is all right now – it just doesn't seem right to me. I'm in quite a quandary here as to what to do about the whole thing.

When I hear from you & the uncles I'll make my decision.

I hope you won't be put out that I opened your Xmas present, but I was so excited seeing your name on it I didn't even think.

I hope you are well dearest & it's just this rotten mail situation which is with-holding your letters to me.

I love you so very much.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph
