Letter #15

Dear Sweetheart—

A good many people ride bicycles around here, which affords us an opportunity for a little sport speculating upon just who they are + where they are going. Amusing to see, some of the town's bowlers pedaling along — stiff + cupid!! I have never noticed how many different body attitude can be obtained but they seem to fall into 3 classes.

The first of course is the dignified people — girls + boys from say 8 to sixty — + they give the impression of being somewhat uncertain, though their balance is fine.

Maybe a good gust of wind will over turn them.

The second are those who work very hard at it — gritting their teeth to help them get to wherever they are going on time.

[Stick figure drawing of hunched-over cyclist pedaling hard]

I hope they make it.

The third is the nonchalant — the adolescent gallant — exclusively boys — + see how good I am

[Stick figure drawing of cyclist riding one-handed, casual pose]

Don't you think I look fine?

Of course the fact that vehicles keep to the left is baffling + looks crazy. The buses + trolleys cars are double deckers + while even the 5th Ave. buses couldn't really be considered double dcountered; these look like one was put, in fact, above the other.

Did when you see (you know we have trucks which just have a cab + pull a trailer — the cab having but 2 wheels) well — I have seen, though never swell than ours — a cab pulling a trailer — but the cab having 3 wheels — one in front + two to the rear — amazing

[Small drawing of 3-wheeled cab vehicle]

And so it goes.

Shor wees, me billboard sign which got me — "VIROL
AENEMIC GIRLS NEED IT"

I still can't find out what Virol is — could it be Lydia Pinkham + that sort of thing?

Shall have to stop now. I love you.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph
