Somewhere in France
Letter #16

Dear Sweetheart-

At last I've crossed the water + am on dry land.

As you know from my previous letters I have been in several countries so far. I imagine I'll see others too.

Here in France I have seen Le Havre + believe me it was quite a site. As a matter of fact there is a great deal I'd like to write about, but now it's a matter of time — they are keeping us quite busy, + I've been in the go.

Let me say though, that these French have gone a heck of a lot. They are so poor it pitiful. Poor woman, old men, boys + girls come begging for cigarettes, gum, candy + food. It's hard to refuse.

As for as I'm concerned there isn't much to say. I'm awaiting orders + only after I get them will I know what the score is.

You may be sure I'll take good care of myself + I sure hope you will too.

Haven't received any mail as yet so I don't know the score.

Please take good care of yourself — I love you more than you can possibly think. You are everything.

Your devoted husband
Dolph
