Dolph's Letter #31
Dear Sweetheart-
Still where I was two days ago, but shifted quarters — which was a nuisance — + tho not any better still is convenient.
How are you dear? What are you doing? Everything all right? No — no mail yet, I just don't know what's going on. Are they all nice to you dear? I hope you are all right.
I don't really know how I work mail letters to get to you — you are getting my letters regularly, aren't you?
And pretty soon we have an anniversary don't we? The 26th of this month — one year! of being married to the most wonderful lady in the world. The young lady I love — the girl of my dreams. The most happiest days + nights of my life have been when we were together married. I feel so fortunate in having you as my wife. You have given me so much bliss that I know God is magnificent in you. I hope I have made you happy. Being separated is not easy, I try not to dwell upon it, but I feel it keenly. The places I have seen so far would be so much more beautiful if you were at my side. True some places have delighted me, uncertainly, but it's necessary within, + for your meaning, substance, to the days air I breathe.
This business of being out experiencing probably applies to those in the rear area — rear, rear areas, for we receive a peg of cigarettes each day with out breakfast, so I had no need of buying + few cartons. It's a matter of fact if they would have given us a straight pastry back in the States I could have left practically everything back there.
My most treasured belonging is the large picture I have of you. I carry it everywhere when + set it in front of me as possible — my glam —
I hope you receive the present I arranged for before leaving the States. Sorry it wasn't + what I really would have wanted to get you but I'm sure you understand. I love you, love you, + may before our next anniversary we shall be reunited + as civilians at that.
Always + all ways I am
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
