Germany Dolph's Letter #49
Dear Sweetheart —
How are you dear? Every- thing all right?
Very funny weather over here — stays cloudy + just doesn't rain, + that's the way it usually is, though this after- noon the clouds parted + the sun has come through.
Last night I attended services. It was good just to sit in the company of fellow Jews. That was about all for yesterday.
Have you been doing any cooking? Playing bridge? Going to the theatre? How do you keep going dear? It's hard being separated. I miss you so much. Of course being here is a break + I'm not fighting, but maybe there is mail back at the outfit, + I'm so thirsty for news from you. I am so anxious to know how you are, what you are doing + just to hear you, even if it's just on paper. I can just pray you are well. And in addi- tion — maybe you will tell me how you like my letters — for I've tried not to complain + not to cause you to have an emotional upset each time you receive a letter from me. Course there is a lot I don't say — but there is no advantage in telling you those things — they are merely occupational hardships + that's just part of the job. But I do hope my letters convey to you the deep love which I have for you. You are everything to me — the reason I am alive. I love you Jean — love you completely, devotedly, all ways + always. I am your husband, your man. I hope you are well + taking good care of yourself.
Your devoted husband, Dolph
