Germany
Dolph's Letter #66
Dear Sweetheart —
How are you dear?
Not so nice a day here this morning; though it looks like it will clear this afternoon.
We sat around talking about the war, of course. It's amazing how practically all the fellows here agree that the Morgenthau idea of a peace is the best idea.
It seems that the perspective of history which noncombatants should have is lacking by refusing to agree with that idea — at least that's my opinion.
Oh well you know how it is — we are all so desirous of peace that even if it is a severe one for the vanquished we readily accept it. How can men who have fought the enemy be squeamish about such a thing. Germany must not be able to wage another war.
Well not much going on dear. I hope you are well + taking good care of yourself.
One more day nearer the end of the war — that's about all that can be said, + except it is one day nearer to the time when we shall be reunited. I could not love thee more than life — is an expression, but Bob.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
