Dolph's Letter #67

Dear Sweetheart —

This has been somewhat of a red letter day for me!

I received mail. You 2 letters + birthday card from Mother, a letter from Monty, Bud + Iris, Arthur + my Aunt Tess. All different dates with my salt water address. Very peculiar but most welcome. Oh that it had been just one of the many I know you have been writing.

It was very excited, as you can well imagine, but the real joy is when I receive a letter from you.

Mother said David was transferred to the a Field Artillery Observation Battalion. Of course the implication was there — why don't you transfer? Of you course know I would if I could, but can't because I'm in the Infantry as an officer, especially, + I am not a boy. Monty said he almost married Muriel when he was at Shanks. Apparently he left the States shortly after I did.

But you my dear — how are you honey? It's so empty to receive news + not from or about the passion of my life. I dream, in this repple depple, of you constantly + the consolation of being in this repple depple, is that I can have the time to dream. You are so adorably sweet — smile honey — I love you so much.

Your devoted husband,
Dolph
