Germany
Dolph's Letter #83
Dear Sweetheart -
How are you dear?
Wonderful the way this war is blowing up in the Germans' faces. How the British + Russians, especially, must feel after having almost lost to see Victory.
VE day, I believe, must be in the immediate offing. Rumor has it that you folks at home have celebrated VE day twice already. May it be the real VE day soon.
What have I been doing? Nothing much. Set up training schedules, assigning officers to the classes, reading (most anything I can get my hands on), playing some bridge - not too bad a game -, listening to the radio (Radio Luxembourg - mostly in German + very infrequently English - music). Excited about the war's drawing to a close + waiting for knowledge as to what's to be.
But the most important thing I'm doing is missing you. It will ever be a source of wonder to me my change - I have changed - since we were betrothed. Surely I believe I am not the same, for while I am still "egotistical as all 'getout'" it's of a 'we' nature. I am 'good' because of you. + for are even very wonderful + remarkable because of us. We are splendid! We shall - dear, I love you so much - have so much enjoyment of of life, when we are together. And I believe we shall make a remarkable contribution to society. Not only our children, but our influence for the better life.
I am so anxious to take up where we left off. The greater pleasures, work + LOVE are before us. All I ask is to be able to resume, + soon, our splendid beginning. Together we shall trod + build our palaces. And you, dear, are the inspiration. I love you. Love you completely.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
