Fort George G. Meade, Maryland
Dear Sweetheart —
Just spoke to you again. So much to say & no time.
We are really busy, but it isn't long we shall remain here. No use to view where you were next to last school was & don't expect — from what they told us that we shall remain there long. Hubba hubba.
I didn't want to buy the field coat: $33.50 – 40 all over – but they told us they strongly recommend it. Its dark green – what they call OD 2. Sorry to put you to the bother for the hood but its cold & windy. also wristlets
I have to buy quite a few things – shoes, O.D. towels, (I have white & we can't take them) socks, underwear (lt. & hvy.) All that stuff is hard to get also a flashlight which I won't be able to get unless you can send it to me. But I shan't buy too much but unfortunately it will just about kill my travel pay + 60 odd I believe. Had to borrow 30 to get the coat, but it doesn't seem as tho I have much real choice, for they aren't kidding us.
Got my field equip't – all new – & will have to pack to-night & to-morrow night.
Shall send my foot locker home – can't take it, & shall put in it my good short coat, towels, etc.
I love you so much dear. I hope you aren't taking this too hard, for unfortunately you shall have to accustom yourself for some time. I want to know that you will be all right, for under no circumstances do I want you to feel that it was a mistake to marry me.
I love you so very much.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
