Dolph's Letter #31
Dear Sweetheart —
A beautiful day. Sure glad the sun is out.
Well I've been getting around, meeting the men in the outfit as well as the officers. Good outfit, experienced — know the score — so I'm sure everything is going to be all right.
My Dad! I didn't ask you how you are + how everything is going. All right? You are constantly with me. Why right now I'm sure you would find this town "quaint" though I'm sure we both would tire of this place soon. Facing fact, though, under the circumstances the longer we stay here the better. My billet is comfortable, the chow is good, + while it isn't quite the company I desire — Soldiers + German civilians (which we keep completely away from as much as possible) — I have no kicks.
Been talking to the other platoon commanders — + they have been giving me tips.
Nothing much doing, taking it easy, cleaning (a soldier's work is never done) + talking.
Take good care of yourself sweet + remember — that's worth it.
Your devoted husband,
Dolph
